Gov. Evers Signs Executive Order #68 Declaring a State of Emergency in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha Counties
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today signed Executive Order #68 declaring a State of Emergency in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties in response to lakeshore flooding and strong winter storms in the region. The storms, which occurred January 10-12, 2020, causing significant infrastructure damage in areas along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
“The damage caused by these storms has already required a tremendous response by local public safety and public works personnel,” said Gov. Evers. “My executive order allows state agencies to provide any additional assistance these communities may need as they work towards their recovery.”
A State of Emergency declaration directs state agencies to assist those affected by the storms. It also allows the Wisconsin National Guard to be called to active duty, as the adjutant general deems it necessary, to support local authorities with their recovery efforts.

The real emergency is being ignored here! The Climate emergency!! I don’t want my tax dollars to go to endless repairs every time -and they will be more frequent AND STRONGER- we have another storm. A wise retreat is in order. Pleasure craft harbors will be uncessancy in a few years anyway. Do we need to prepare for tourboats to expand– oh my yes GROWTH!? Perhaps its time to examine the lakefront through the climate emergency lens??
