Replacement of 68th Street Bridge over I-894 to Begin
The contractor, Zignego Company, Inc., is expected to begin work on the first stages of this project the week of October 28, 2019.
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $3,300,000 contract to replace the 68th Street bridge over I-894 in Milwaukee County. The contractor, Zignego Company, Inc., is expected to begin work on the first stages of this project the week of October 28, 2019 and finish by late summer 2020. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
Traffic Impacts
- The 68th Street bridge will be closed to traffic during construction, however access to residences and businesses along 68th Street will be maintained.
- Traffic will be detoured to 76th Street via Layton Avenue and Cold Spring Road.
- Few, intermittent overnight full freeway closures along I-894 will be required for bridge demolition, girder placement and deck pouring.
