One Wisconsin Now Labor Day 2019 Statements
Time to Celebrate Workplace Rights We’ve Won and Commit to Protect Them in the Future
MADISON, Wis. — The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Analiese Eicher commemorating Labor Day 2019:
“Labor Day 2019 is a time to celebrate the workplace rights won by the sacrifices of generations past and to commit to being vigilant in the future.
“Wealthy and powerful special interests trying to tilt the law in their favor — even at the expense of the health, safety and well being of working people — isn’t just something that happened in the past. We’ve seen firsthand here in Wisconsin how workplace rights can be taken away and how hard it is to win them back once they are gone.
“Rising economic inequality and insecurity affects us all. That’s why it’s important, today and every day, for us to support the working people, the organizations and the public officials on the front lines of the fight to ensure fair pay for our labor, safe working conditions and respect on the job.”
