"Michael Hanrahan is an accomplished trial attorney who is known for his experience in handling complex litigation matters."
Madison – Today, Governor Scott Walker appointed Michael Hanrahan to Branch 4 of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, filling the vacancy left by Judge Mel Flanagan, who will retire on March 4, 2016.
“Michael Hanrahan is an accomplished trial attorney who is known for his experience in handling complex litigation matters,” Governor Walker said. “Throughout his career, Mr. Hanrahan has demonstrated a commitment to his community and the rule of law, and we are confident he will bring the same faithfulness to the Constitution to the Milwaukee County bench.”
Francis J. Hughes, shareholder with Fox, O’Neill & Shannon, S.C., is one of many who hold Mr. Hanrahan in high regard. “I’ve known Mike for over 20 years and I can say with confidence that he has the temperament, demeanor, and work ethic to serve on the bench,” says Hughes. “Knowing his sterling character and intellect, I have no doubt Mike will be an honest and exceptional judge.”
Others impressed by Mr. Hanrahan include James T. Barry III, President of the Barry Company. In his letter of recommendation to the Governor, Barry wrote: “Mike is very highly regarded in the legal community and has the reputation as an excellent lawyer. As a judge, Mike would uphold the rule of law and apply the law as written, not as he thinks it should be written. He is a thoughtful, courteous, even-keel attorney and I am confident that these attributes would serve him well as a judge.”
Hanrahan has a juris doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University. He is a native of Milwaukee and currently resides in Whitefish Bay.
