Parrandas are musical festivities during the holiday season most common in Afro- Caribbean Latin American countries and parts of South America.
Alderman José G. Pérez encourages residents to attend the Parranda tomorrow (Friday), January 4 at noon at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St.
Parrandas are musical festivities during the holiday season most common in Afro- Caribbean Latin American countries and parts of South America. The Spanish word “parranda” translates to “party” or “musical procession,” and is similar to Christmas caroling. Different countries call the tradition by various names. The event will feature the local, acclaimed Latin American musical group Caché, which is led by Milwaukee music veterans.
Alderman Pérez says, “The Parranda is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, while also celebrating the diversity that makes Milwaukee so special.”
The event at City Hall is free and open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
