Film Girl Film Festival to Feature First Ever Wisconsin Shorts Block
The Wisconsin Shorts Block will begin at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 13.
The Third Annual Film Girl Film Festival will be featuring its first Wisconsin Shorts Block, series of shorts that focus on Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Shorts Block will begin at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 13, at the Underground Collaborative, 161 West Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee. Filmmaker Q&As will follow.
The following short films will be featured as part of the Wisconsin Shorts Block: “Marieke,” which explores the life and craft of Marieke Penterman, acclaimed Dutch Gouda cheesemaker from Thorp, Wisconsin, “The Other Shoe,” about an impoverished couple trying to make a life together, “The Faces of Wisconsin,” a poetic documentary which seeks to learn about places by learning about the women who live there, “Black Lives Matter: A Short Experimental Film,” where six black women dancers interpret the struggles of racism and police brutality through their movements, “This is Para Con,” about Milwaukee’s third paranormal conference,“Sherman Park Rising,” a doc which explores how residents of Sherman Park expressed their feelings of unrest through a community mural project.
