Aldermen ask Mayor Barrett to step down if he enters race for Governor
Media advisory and letter from Alderman Bob Donovan and Alderman Mark A. Borkowski
In a letter (attached) sent today to Mayor Tom Barrett, Alderman Bob Donovan and Alderman Mark A. Borkowski are asking the mayor to step down if he decides to enter the race for Wisconsin Governor.
Alderman Donovan, chair of the Public Safety and Health Committee, said the “right choice” for the mayor would be to step aside should he enter the race for Governor.
“Given our many challenges and issues here in Milwaukee, we need a full-time mayor managing the city’s affairs all day and every day,” he said. “What we don’t need is a distracted mayor who is in constant campaign mode.”
In part the letter states: “Too many agencies of this City’s government have been roiled by scandal and mismanagement in recent months for this community to be able to afford a mayor with his mind and energy divided between the duties of his office and what promises to be a bruising political campaign.”

please, please, please barrett don’t enter the governor’s race. you didn’t win what twice before and you can’t win now. i won’t vote for you.
2 Republicans looking for an excuse to ask a Democratic Mayor to step down-especially after 1 of them lost the last election for Mayor.
Run Tom, run!! 4th time is always the charm. You’ll be able to film campaign ads whilst riding your streetcar, too!
Republicans are rushing to outdo one another in contributing to the “Barrett for Governor”. Someone needs to tell them that salivating on their checkbooks is really uncouth.
-I don’t remember these two asking Scott Walker to step down when he left the state and governor duties to campaign for president.
-Hypocrisy much ??? ( Oh no; this IS DIFFERENT )
Eric J.: Let’s not forget how Walker was campaigning for governor while being paid by the taxpayers of Milwaukee county to be the county exec. At least when he was running for POTUS, the rest of the nation got to see what a doughy dimwit he is. Have to say, though, it was kinda fun to see him crash and burn on the national stage.
Hm. Who else was galavanting around the country while being paid to do his job in Milwaukee county? Those fiscal conservatives sure don’t have any problems spending taxpayers’ money for not doing their jobs.
That being said, I’d vote for roadkill before I’d vote for Barrett. I’m hoping he’s publicly musing out loud to distract the Republicans, but I don’t think he’s that clever.
STOP the presses, for this Breaking News!

>> Further review of other politicians may be forthcoming.
MKE Kid: What’s the full name of candidate Roadkill? Is he running as an Independent? Please provide the address of Roadkill’s campaign headquarters; and do you know if they are giving out placards and brochures yet?
