‘10thirtysix ’ to re-ring the alarm bell on milwaukee’s lead crisis
This event will be recorded for a special edition of 10thirtysix, to air on Milwaukee PBS 10 on Thursday, April 19 at 9:00 p.m.
Milwaukee, WI, March 27, 2018 – Last year, Milwaukee PBS’ signature news magazine, 10thirtysix, hosted a community discussion to help address the lead crisis in Milwaukee, which was broadcast live for a special, interactive edition of the program. A year later, the problem of lead persists and the danger to the health of Milwaukee residents hasn’t abated.
On Saturday, April 14, Milwaukee PBS hosts a follow-up event on the urgent and alarming issue of lead in our community. Hosted in partnership with WUWM and Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, the “town hall” style event intends to help identify what Milwaukeeans can do to keep their families and their homes safe from lead hazards. The event will feature a panel of experts who will talk about health, environment, and provide practical safety tips.
This event will be held at St. Anthony’s Keyser Hall, located at 1730 S. 9th Street in Milwaukee. The doors open at 10:00 a.m. and the program begins at 11:00 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with questions to ask the panel of experts. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and advance reservations are strongly recommended. A resource fair will follow the panel discussion. Tickets are available at MilwaukeePBS.org.
This event will be recorded for a special edition of 10thirtysix, to air on Milwaukee PBS 10 on Thursday, April 19 at 9:00 p.m.
Hosted by veteran newswoman Portia Young, 10thirtysix premiered in November 2016 and offers southeastern Wisconsin a new platform – and a new perspective – on the topical and relevant issues that affect the community.
