MILWAUKEE (Feb. 12, 2018) — Anime Milwaukee (AMKE), Wisconsin’s largest anime and Japanese cultural event, will host its 11th annual event at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee and Wisconsin Center the weekend of Feb. 16-18, 2018.

AMKE expects to welcome more than 10,000 attendees to downtown Milwaukee for an expected $3.8 million economic impact. The entire three floors of the Wisconsin Center will be booked full with vendors, artists, video game entertainment, programming, over 20 special guests, and more. Connected by skywalk, the Hyatt will also host events for AMKE attendees.

AMKE offers 24-hour entertainment for the duration of the convention, providing night owls and early birds alike with plenty of fun! This year, the popular event pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of science fiction and fantasy media mega-hit Final Fantasy, one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, with special guests and an exclusive, star-studded panel on Saturday night.

This event features popular attractions for the whole family, including the Cosplay Competition Masquerade and the Charity Ball, in support of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center — this year’s chosen charity beneficiary. The all-ages anime convention also features two high-energy, all-night dances led by deejays from around the world, cultural programming in association with numerous local Japanese and Asian businesses and educational organizations, and new for 2017, a fashion show with designer MINT NeKO. La Parfait Maid Café, a small business based in Indiana, will host an authentic Maid and Butler cafe experience in the VUE ballroom at the top of the Hyatt.

Other special guests include local and international illustrators, writers and cosplay experts, led by prominent Italian cosplayer Leon Chiro. AMKE will also welcome voice actors from multiple titles like Final Fantasy, Naruto, Overwatch, Pokemon, Viz’s Sailor Moon, One Piece, Durarara, Lucky Star, Hellsing, Duke Nukem, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, the Seven Deadly Sins, and more.

Don’t forget about the kiddos! AMKE hosts family-friendly activities, including children’s programming, the Manga Library, and the exclusive Cosplay Combat Chess event.
