U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin Statement on Continuing Resolution Vote
"Congress should not be leaving town without getting the job done to keep a promise on pensions that workers have earned."
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin released the following statement on the continuing resolution vote in the Senate tonight.
“This week, Congressional Republicans delivered a huge gift to the wealthiest few, big corporations and Wall Street. Those who have too much power and influence in Washington won again, and the people of Wisconsin are fed up with it and so am I. That is why I am voting against this kick-the-can-down-the-road legislation. Congress should not be leaving town without getting the job done to keep a promise on pensions that workers have earned. We should not put off protecting Dreamers who have only known America as their home. We should not shortchange our veterans; we should do right by them. And at a time when Congressional Republicans are giving the top 1% huge tax breaks, it is morally wrong that Congress is failing to fully fund children’s health care, community health centers and combating the opioid crisis.”
