Dana Wachs says GOP tax plan is a “nightmare”
"This isn’t a tax plan designed to grow the economy; it is designed to make the 1 percent even richer."
EAU CLAIRE – Dana Wachs today called on Congress to reject a tax reform plan that experts and bipartisan policy groups have said will raise taxes on teachers, college students, homeowners, and people trying to save for retirement.
“This isn’t a tax plan designed to grow the economy; it is designed to make the 1 percent even richer. Republicans in Congress and here at the capitol in Wisconsin want the public to believe that giving money to the super-rich will mean bigger paychecks for working families, but that is simply untrue.
“Is being able to do our taxes on a form the size of a postcard so import that we’re willing to shut families out of the American dream? This tax plan is a cruel nightmare.
“When we consider the impact of this tax plan on workers and families in Wisconsin, we can’t forget all that Gov. Walker did to hurt working families in Wisconsin this year. Walker lowered the wages of thousands of workers with a full repeal of prevailing wage. He expanded voucher schools, taking more money out of Wisconsin public classrooms, and he gave millions more of our tax dollars to super-rich corporations. GOP attacks on workers and Wisconsin families have to stop.”
