Garden Homes residents invited to “Let Your Voice Be Heard” Community Input Session

Alderman Ashanti Hamilton, invites residents of the Garden Homes Neighborhood to the “Let Your Voice Be Heard” at a Community Input Session on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Century City Towers at 4201 N. 27th Street, on the 2nd Floor.
The Historic Garden Homes Neighborhood is the first municipally sponsored housing co-op in America, and once had the highest standard of living for African Americans in the United States, but has seen a decline due to various factors. We are committed to the residents and stakeholders and want to make things better. Saturday’s meeting will gather input from residents and stakeholders to write a neighborhood plan that will be implemented in 2018 and beyond.
Alderman Hamilton says, “Community voice and input is so critical in this process and I encourage all residents to get involved in the direction and growth we are planning for the neighborhood.”
Over the last two years The Corridor, over 100 community residents, and representatives from over 35 community organizations have held events and meetings in an effort to restore the neighborhood.
