Artists in The Garden at Boerner Botanical Gardens, Aug. 20, 21

A Juried Art Fair with Plein Air Competition

Hales Corners, WI (July 28, 2016) – Artists in The Garden will bring together art, nature, music, and food Aug. 20 and 21, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive. The juried event is presented by Milwaukee County Parks in partnership with the League of Milwaukee Artists.

Watercolors, oils, sculptures, prints, photo art, and acrylics will be among the original works for sale by about 80 Milwaukee-area artists. Thirty artists will have booths in the Shrub Mall, while the works of about 30 more artists will be for sale in the Gallery Tent. Artists in the plein air competition will also offer their work for sale.

The plein air competition will feature artists painting throughout the Botanical Gardens on both Saturday and Sunday. Inspired by their surroundings and painting in the open air, artists will vie for the $1,000 first prize, donated by the Ellenbecker Investment Group, and second and third prizes of $500- and $250-art-supply gift cards from Dick Blick Art Materials.

Throughout the weekend, artist demonstrations will be ongoing, live music will be performed, and Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens will host a children’s area with activities and art projects.

A variety of food and beverage items will be available for purchase. Zilli Café will offer lunch items and a full coffee bar, and on Sunday, Boerner Restaurant will offer brunch,

Admission to the Botanical Gardens includes admission to Artists in the Garden and related art activities. Rates are $5.50 for adults age 18 and up; $4.50 for students of any age with IDs, Milwaukee County seniors age 60 and up with IDs, and people with disabilities; and $3.50 for youths age 6-17.
