The Pfister Hotel, owned and managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, will bid farewell to Resident Narrator Jonathan West with The Final Bow, a public reception that will take place on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Pfister’s glittering Café Rouge.

The Final Bow will consist of a live radio show full of stories, comedy, song, and screenings of the short films West wrote and produced during his yearlong residency. Musical companion James Kaplan and a cast of some of Milwaukee’s favorite actors and singers will also be in attendance.

As the Pfister Narrator, West spent 10 hours each week for a year in the hotel’s lobby and public spaces interacting with visitors and guests, and sharing their stories on The Pfister’s award-winning blog (blog.thepfisterhotel.com). He posted blog entries at least twice a week throughout the year, and turned several of his posts into short films. West was chosen as the hotel’s eighth Pfister Narrator based on his writing style, professional experience and personality. In addition to his written work, West brought the true definition to “narrator” by recording a narration of all of his posts during his term on The Pfister Narrator podcast.

“Reflecting upon a year as the in-house writer at the Pfister is like looking back on the best moments of my life.  It’s with that joy that I hope to spend some time celebrating the stories that I’ve encountered and the people that I’ve met during my yearlong residency,” said West. “It’s an experience that I’ll never forget, and I’ll bring all that excitement into my Final Bow for a night that I hope will also be unforgettable. It’s time to laugh and have a great party as I say “thank you” for a great year.”

The reception will also include a “passing of the pen” to the next Pfister Narrator who will be announced prior to the event.

I didn’t even know that the Pfister had a writer-in-residence (although I was aware of the last artist-in-residence, Todd Mrozinski, and attended his pop-up last art show there). Sounds like a very interesting, fun event, and I plan to attend!
