Murder, Mayhem and Jobs
Rep. Bob Gannon (R-Slinger) released this statement today on jobs and crime.
“As democrats statewide compose their yearend propaganda blaming republicans for every malady known by man, they need to be honest about job creation. Milwaukee is ranked the sixth highest city nationally in per capita murders by Forbes, which makes it obvious that our largest urban center, is the anchor holding back the ship of state as far as jobs is concerned. Milwaukee finished the year with over one hundred and fifty murders and over seven hundred others injured in shootings.
Milwaukee finished the year with an unemployment rate of approximately twenty percent for their black population. This is almost four times as high as the white unemployment rate for the city and the state. This means that Milwaukee leads in murders and mayhem per capita, with a large number of these crimes occurring in mainly black neighborhoods, the same neighborhoods with the worst unemployment rates in the state.
Could one make a connection between employment opportunities and the level of crime on those same streets? What employer will build or expand when they fear muggings, carjackings, attempted murder, or other serious criminal threats to their employees? One cannot ignore the correlation between jobs and crime, employment opportunities will only expand in these neighborhoods when the violence is stopped.
Milwaukee has a democrat mayor, whose focus is a tiny trolley that will chug along in the more affluent and safer areas of the city.
Milwaukee County has a democrat district attorney focused on a personal vendetta against our governor, a vendetta that’s been laughed out of multiple courts for having no legal standing, while ignoring the crime on the streets.
The state’s economic numbers, including job development and unemployment rates, would certainly be significantly improved if only our largest city would clean up the murder and mayhem on their streets.”

Wow, this guy’s a racist too? I didn’t think he could get more vile, but here we are…
What did he say that was racist?
Gannon’s plan to improve Milwaukee:
MADISON – Representative Bob Gannon released a statement saying, “Wisconsin does not have a death penalty law, but with significant practice and careful aim, law abiding citizens can help clean our society of these scum bags.”
Representative Gannon…with your terrible opinion of Milwaukee, I double dog dare you to holster your gun(s), drive into Milwaukee’s inner core and rid the city of their bad guys, who you claim are the only detriment for business people opening shops in the city. Think of what a hero you will be to your Republican and NRA pals. Lets see you walk the talk,
It is the height of idiocy not to mention insanely reckless and irresponsible and morally repugnant for an elected representative to encourage people to take the law into their own hands and murder people.
Holy cow! Just when you thought someone couldn’t cram more bullshit into a press release, they do! And it wasn’t even Bob Donovan or Scott Walker. 2016’s gonna be a good year.
Maybe the arrow slinging representative from Slinger could offer up a plan or process that his little burg has used other than the Bo Morrison approach.
Are you guys reading the same press release? I don’t think this was the most PC press release ever, but I read this as saying crime or the perception of crime in our inner city is holding us back in terms of businesses moving in and jobs being created. The most controversial part seems to be that he’s saying the crime is greatly centered around African American neighborhoods and the consequences inordinately affect our African American population.
Please read post 2 AG. That is what we are referring to. Gannon said that recently.
Ah sorry post 3. My mistake.
Hey Gannon,
How about you and your fellow right-wing zealot constituents take up the multiple requests from Democrats like Barrett and Flynn who have repeatedly requested a state law that automatically imprisons felons who possess firearms? This would be an actual solution to the problem, instead of just presenting the problem which you so conveniently ignore solving.
What an embarrassment you are.
Ah yes, that is certainly more direct than it probably should have been. But I don’t think he was telling anyone to go to the inner city and hunt criminals down.
To Chris, most conservatives I know support the idea of punishing gun law offenders. I’m betting Gannon would go right along with that idea.
He might not have mentioned a specific location, but he absolutely is encouraging people to employ vigilante justice.
Gannon’s garbage ran on a daily ohline in West Bend where I now reside. I asked in the comment section why he didn’t talk about guns and violence. the good news is Russ Feingold will be visiting our Democrat’s Washington County Headquarters next week. Believe it or not, the Democrats are gaining ground in this gun toting community of mostly good folks with a few far righters thrown in, Gannon being one of those.
I thought it was pretty clear that he was saying we needed more people to concealed carry and for those people to actively respond to situations in the moment. But I guess we can agree to disagree.
Lets also be clear, I’m not condoning his statements… I think it is extreme rhetoric that plays on peoples fear and I don’t think a CCW holder should just shoot anytime there’s a situation involving criminals with guns.
