Sens. Harsdorf & Tiffany AWOL on WEDC Accountability
The scandal-plagued agency has continued to abuse its authority and funnel taxpayer dollars to companies that outsource jobs.
MADISON, WI – After Sen. Sheila Harsdorf and Sen. Tom Tiffany blocked a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) accountability measure in the budget, the scandal-plagued agency has continued to abuse its authority and funnel taxpayer dollars to companies that outsource jobs.
The latest news that WEDC broke the law when it awarded more than $21 million in taxpayer funding to corporations raises more questions about recent Republican efforts to block accountability.
“After years of out-of-control spending and non-stop scandals, it’s unbelievable that Republicans continue to defend this failed agency,” said SSDC Executive Director Matt Ullsvik. “As members of the powerful Joint Finance Committee, Senators Harsdorf and Tiffany owe the people of Wisconsin an answer as to why they’ve been AWOL when it comes to protecting taxpayers.”
