Disappointed in today’s Council vote
Statement from Alderman Joe Davis, Sr. July 21, 2015
I am disappointed that the Common Council today chose not to support a bold plan that I offered to help reduce the deadly violence in too many Milwaukee neighborhoods by allocating federal funding back into the community. The plan put forth a common sense way of addressing the ongoing crisis of poverty and violence here in the City of Milwaukee by reallocating a total of $2 million in CDBG funding from city services and channeling it directly into neighborhoods where it is needed.
With today’s decision to instead continue doing the same things we’ve been doing (that are NOT working) with that critical CDBG funding, I fear that the deadly violence on our streets will – sadly – also continue.

Who exactly was Ald. Davis going to give this money to? What were they actually going to do with it? Or is this more along the lines of the old OIC [http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/stories/2005/04/04/editorial4.html] and or Gary George [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_George_(Wisconsin_politician)]
