MILWAUKEE, WI — October 13, 2026 — Urban Cat Coalition (UCC), a non-profit organization dedicated to humanely reducing the homeless cat population in the Milwaukee area, is proud to announce the grand opening of its new shelter facility at 2812 W. Clybourn Street. The community is invited to celebrate this milestone at a CAT Block Party on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, featuring a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 AM.

The new facility marks the organization’s first physical brick-and-mortar hub. Primarily designed to support UCC’s expansive volunteer and foster network, the space will centralize foster supplies, house specialized trapping equipment, and serve as an operational base for community outreach and education. As the organization settles into the new space, UCC plans to establish permanent staffing and eventually house adoptable cats on-site.

“Having a dedicated physical space allows us to streamline our operations and better equip our network of passionate foster families and volunteers,” said Ruthie Weatherly, project coordinator for Urban Cat Coalition. “By centralizing our supplies and staging operations, we can move faster to care for community cats, support local caretakers, and work toward our ultimate goal of no new cats born outside.”

To mark the opening, UCC is hosting a family-friendly neighborhood block party. The event will feature local food trucks, children’s crafting stations, face painting, cat trivia, and booths from partner rescue organizations across the Milwaukee area.
