MPD Officer Accused of Sexual Assault
Incident occurred at South Milwaukee bar.
Milwaukee Police Department Officer Nathan Enk has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.
According to a statement, Enk, 33, was placed on a “full suspension” by MPD after the department learned of his arrest on Sept. 21.
Enk is accused of groping a woman without her consent outside a South Milwaukee bar the morning of Sept. 21. According to a criminal complaint, a witness saw the interaction. Enk, in an interview with law enforcement, denied the allegation.
Enk was charged with the two misdemeanors on Oct. 5.
“This incident is concerning and falls short of the standards the community expects and deserves,” said Chief Jeffrey Norman in a statement. “We expect every member of the Milwaukee Police Department, sworn and professional staff alike, to conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. Any violation of department policies or the law will be addressed appropriately. We also recognize that all individuals have the right to due process and are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The sexual assault charge carries a potential sentence of up to nine months in jail, a $10,000 fine or both. The disorderly conduct charge includes a possible penalty of up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine or both.
Enk has been with the department for seven years.
In 2021, Enk was one of the responding officers to the in-custody collapse and subsequent death of Quievonta Moffett, who had lied about consuming baggies of cocaine during his arrest. Enk and the other officers who responded after the collapse were cleared of any wrongdoing in 2023 by then-deputy district attorney Kent Lovern.
Enk, a South Milwaukee resident, is out of custody and due to make his first appearance on Oct. 7. He is innocent until proven guilty.
The case is assigned to Judge David L. Borowski.
