David Crowley Raises Milwaukee County Property Taxes Again
MILWAUKEE, WI – Today, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley released his 2027 Recommended Operating Budget, which includes yet another property tax increase. Crowley has now proposed property tax increases in six of his seven budgets. The one year he did not raise property taxes, he nearly doubled Milwaukee County’s sales tax.
Crowley’s latest budget calls for a 2.55% property tax increase, collecting approximately $7.8 million more from taxpayers. Despite repeatedly asking taxpayers to pay more, Milwaukee County will face a $50.8 million structural deficit.
“David Crowley’s answer is always the same: make taxpayers pay more. He has raised taxes every year he has been Milwaukee County Executive, and after all those tax increases, Milwaukee County is still facing a nearly $51 million deficit. Crowley wants Wisconsin taxpayers to trust him with the state budget when his own county continues to spend more, tax more, and run the largest deficit of any county in Wisconsin. Wisconsin cannot afford David Crowley’s tax-and-spend record statewide,” said the Tiffany campaign.
