Crowley: Do as I Say, Not as I Do
MADISON, Wis.— David Crowley has apparently adopted a new standard for Wisconsin: do as I say, not as I do.
In a resurfaced 2021 social media post, Crowley complained about Milwaukee County Parks relying on revenue from activities like golf, the marina and beer gardens, arguing that these activities were predominantly supported by white users and describing the situation as a “racial inequity” rooted in systemic racism and injustice.
But apparently those concerns disappear when Crowley himself heads to the golf course.
Less than a year ago, Crowley appeared at a golf event at Noyes Park Golf Course. Milwaukee County has also touted golf tournaments among the activities included in Crowley’s Healthy County Challenge.
So which is it?
If golf is part of the “racial inequity” Crowley warned about, why is he showing up on the golf course himself?
Wisconsinites should be able to enjoy a round of golf, grab a beer at a beer garden or spend a day on the lake without politicians injecting divisive racial politics into everyday life.
WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming released the following statement:
“David Crowley wants one set of rules for himself and another for everyone else. He linked everyday activities like golfing and visiting beer gardens to racial inequity, then turned around and showed up on the golf course himself. Wisconsinites can decide for themselves what that says about Crowley’s credibility, but they deserve leaders whose actions match their words.”
