Congressman Tiffany to Kick Off His Taxpayer Funded Vacation With Extremist Book Banning Group
MADISON, Wis. — Just days after U.S. House Republicans adjourned early and announced a 7-week recess without addressing several key pieces of legislation, Wisconsin GOP Congressman Tom Tiffany is spending his taxpayer-funded vacation courting support from an extremist book-banning organization.
Congressman Tiffany is listed as a featured speaker at a Sept. 21 Moms For Liberty forum. Moms For Liberty is a far-right designated extremist group whose agenda includes banning books, censoring history and school curricula, and attacking LGBTQ+ youth.
“Congressman Tiffany can’t find the time to show up at work and vote on bills, or speak to Wisconsinites at a public debate, but you betcha he’s making time to appear with extremist groups,” commented A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp.
According to news reports, a member of a Moms For Liberty Wisconsin chapter tried to ban more than 30 books from a local school library. Tiffany’s latest appearance with Moms For Liberty comes after he also signed a pledge with the group in 2025.
“Tiffany literally pledged his support for putting politicians like himself in charge of your kids’ education, including deciding what they read and learn,” said Ripp. “It’s no wonder he’s avoiding debates.”
Ripp also noted that Congressman Tiffany sponsored a bill to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, voted for the biggest cut to public education in Wisconsin history, and supported funding cuts to local public libraries across the country.
