Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?

I work at sōsh as a writer/marketer and I love making connections with people online while building relationships for our clients. Working in the realm of social media, I have come to learn a lot about what people enjoy talking about, doing and sharing with others. Even though I am on a computer, the conversations I build via social media feel real and we wholeheartedly enjoy taking care of our clients’ customers.

How long have you lived in Milwaukee and what brought you here?

I have lived in Milwaukee for a full year and a month now (WOW!), moving from Puerto Rico after hurricane María displaced me last September 2017. I have family that lives here and they opened their home to me and my boyfriend to start anew.

What do you love most about Milwaukee?

I love how small the city feels, but how big it really is. There are always things to do and places to discover, making every neighborhood unique with everything they have to offer. Also, the general openness to creativity and collaboration feels very welcoming to somebody new in the city with close to no connections when I first got here. I think people are excited about what others are working on and they want to get involved in any way they can with new projects.

What is one word that you would use to describe Milwaukee?

Stimulating

What local restaurant is at the top of your list?

This is hard, since there are so many places I love and frequent. At the top of my list is definitely Thai-namite and their delicious Thai food, with Sweet Diner a close second, followed by Rock Bottom (have you even tried their Mac & Cheese?)!

What is your favorite Milwaukee tradition?

Bar-hopping (and great food everywhere you go!) In the last year, I have come to eat some of the best food I have ever had in my life, trying new favorites like cheese curds, fried pickles, custard and all the beer you can imagine. Summer festivals are also terrific since Milwaukeeans enjoy the hot summer weather and pack every single weekend during the summer months with fun stuff to do and great food to eat to go with them.

What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?

I live downtown and I love how accessible everything is. You can walk anywhere (if the Wisconsin weather allows it), and exploring local businesses is always a fun adventure to spend a couple of hours doing. You’ll never know what or who you may discover.

What’s your favorite hidden gem or secret fact about the city?

So many buildings in the downtown area from the beginning of the last century are still intact, with gorgeous interiors and original architectural pieces. Although many have been updated with technology for today’s society, to just see how the two blend together is beautiful. I think it’s one of the things that gives Milwaukee that homey and welcoming quality.
