As summer begins NEWaukee’s Night Market returns for a fifth year this Wednesday on June 13th. The event will be held on one Wednesday a month from June to September. The market offers a wide range of Milwaukee vendors and activities for guests of all ages to enjoy.

Each night the market will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event will take place at the same location as past years on W. Wisconsin Ave. between N. 2nd St. to N. 4th St.

Instead of its usual traffic, the street will be filled with thousands of people enjoying the summer air as they experience the culture of Milwaukee. NEWaukee’s Night Market is free and aims to provide a safe and fun place that can bring together all that Milwaukee has to offer. This year it will feature over a hundred art, craft and food vendors from all over the city.

There are family-friendly activities like s’more roasting at the GRAEF Lounge and a life-size chess and checkers set. Kids will surely enjoy interacting with the Wandering Bubble Blowing Stilt Walker from Pantaloon Productions. Older guests may enjoy visiting the food vendors that include a wide variety of options from sushi and spring rolls to pizza and smoked barbecue. Anyone can try their luck at Night Market Bingo or enter to win tickets to The Weeknd at Summerfest at The Fortress’ booth. Those who want a unique experience can stop at the Radio Milwaukee booth and participate in “The Listening Project.” It is a one-minute audio experience that introduces participants to new music or a story.

Every month will feature different performances. Wednesday’s performances will begin with the Milwaukee Flyers tumbling team at 6:00 p.m. The TRUE Skool Band will perform at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by DanceWorks at 8:00 p.m.

The market brings a different atmosphere to downtown Milwaukee as guests can freely walk on the usually busy Wisconsin Ave. The string lights and live music bring the feeling of summer in the city. Social architecture firm NEWaukee says that by attending the event, guests are investing in the local community and reimagining what downtown Milwaukee could be.

The event will be held three more times this year on July 11th, August 15th and September 12th.
