Funny that you mentioned the “lack of the 13th floor” designation for the building.
I was a young boy visiting there with my mother in the early ’80s and noted to her that the elevator cab had no number “13” for a 13th floor of the building. This was the first time in my life (a budding architect wannabe at that point in my life) I noticed that it very odd / old school about the “Triskaidekaphobia” that was much more prevalent in our culture. Though I did learn that number at about the same time from Jack Palance of all people on the old “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” show he hosted.
Both memories have stuck with me all of these years!
I wish the hotel “good luck” opening their first MKE area location in that building!
