Most City Services Closed Labor Day

No parking enforcement! But better pick up that towed car before the lot closes.

Most city workers will not be laboring on Labor Day.

There will be no garbage or recycling pick-up on Monday. If your normal trash collection is on Monday, your trash will be picked up the next day — on Tuesday, September 8. The self-help centers for citizens to personally drop off refuse will also be closed on Monday. If you are planning to use the centers this weekend, be sure to use them Saturday or Sunday when the centers will still be open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Parking enforcement will be minimal this weekend, with overnight parking Saturday through Sunday, and parking all day Monday into Tuesday to be unenforced. However, starting at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, enforcement will resume, so plug those meters.

If your car has been towed this week, be sure to head to the correct towing lot by Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., because the lots will be closed all day Sunday and Monday.

The Milwaukee Water Works will close its Customer Service Center on Monday, but municipal services bills can be paid online at the MWW website. The 24-hour drinking water service and emergency service center offered by MWW will remain open on Monday.

And happy Labor Day to all.
