Alaskan Way Viaduct
Like Interstate 794 and the Park East Freeway in Milwaukee, the elevated Alaskan Way Viaduct highway is a wound that separates two parts of Seattle. The waterfront and downtown are split by it, but not for much longer. Following the end of its planned life and an earthquake in 2001, the viaduct is coming down, to be replaced by a street-level boulevard and tunnel. Photo taken August 4th, 2014 by Jeramey Jannene.
