Folks. It’s awards season. You know what that means. It’s my favorite time of year when celebs step out on the red carpet in their finest designer duds. Here’s a look at some of my favorites and not-so-favorites from the recent Golden Globes.

Salma Hayek looked stunning on the red carpet and presenting in her Gucci Couture gown. It was a figure-flatter, black and gold dress with beaded embellishments that matched perfectly with her ombre hair color.

Angelina Jolie. According to some, she was the best dressed of the night, but I have to disagree. The color of her champagne satin one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown was too close to the color of her actual skin, and though the actress is thin, the satin fabric showed even the tiniest flaw.

Piper Perabo appeared on the red carpet this year in her Theyskens’ Theory gown. The dress, simply styled, was a large beigey-pink ball gown and voted one of the worst dressed of the night! I have to agree and the bland color washed out her skin amongst a crowd of jeweled toned dresses.

Ty Burrell stood out in a white tux amongst the men in black. His accessory of choice: a pair of thick-rimmed glasses. The funny man looked classy with his classic black bow tie against his all white jacket and pocket square.

Ty’s Modern Family co-star Sofia Vergara looked amazing in her custom-made Vera Wang blue mermaid gown. The dress hugged her curves in all the right places as she participated in the jewel tone trend.

Other favorites of mine included Emma Stone in Lanvin, Even Rachel Wood in Gucci Premiere, Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen and Lea Michelle in Marchesa. One trend I was glad to see was rich jewel tones such as turquoise, maroon, purple and gold. Since we saw this trend on Spring 2012 runways, I’m excited to see these colors hitting the racks early this spring.

What were your favorite looks at the Golden Globes? Who was your favorite designer?
