The holidays in Milwaukee seems to me to be a time when theatre really thrives. It’s a time for tradition, and for many people, seeing a play around Christmas time with family is part of that tradition.

And it’s not just the one’s that everybody knows like “Christmas Carol” or “Nutcracker,” many of Milwaukee’s theatre companies have holiday performances in a less traditional sense.

Matt Daniels is an actor at In Tandem Theatre, where they always look to do “alternative” Christmas fare, which for the last three years has been the play “Scrooge in Rouge,” the story of a company of 23 actors, 20 of whom fall sick the night of performing “A Christmas Carol.” Many costume changes are made by Daniels and the other two cast members in this fresh, funny holiday performance.

“Scrooge in Rouge” is playing at  In Tandem Theatre until Dec. 31.
