The life of the 2011 City/County Christmas Tree

By - Nov 19th, 2011 11:15 am

The 98th City/County Christmas Tree has been on a journey, and TCD has been there every step of the way.

Starting bright and early on Monday, Nov. 7, videographer Nickolas Nikolic captured the tree harvesting ceremony at the Sullivan residence on 63rd and Euclid. Friends and neighbors looked on as city workers cut down the massive pine and loaded it to be transported to Red Arrow Park. There, it was decorated for the holidays and prepared for the lighting ceremony, part of holiday lighting celebrations all over the city. Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele were on hand for the ceremony to ring in the holiday season, along with performances from 2011 American Idol finalist Naima Adedapo, The Salvation Army Brass Ensemble and characters from The Rep‘s “A Christmas Carol.”
