Wine Craze - Champagne // Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label & Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec

Starts at 5:30 PM on December 5th, 2012
Cost: $5 for a pour
Join us through the month of December as we celebrate those wonderfully effervescent, sparkling wines we all know as Champagne. Although, technically, only sparkling wines made from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France using ‘méthode Champenoise’ and matured for a minimum of 18 months can truly be considered "Champagne."

December 5

Veuve Clicquot
A Champagne House is typically judged on the quality of its Brut Non Vintage. It is in the making of these wines that the true art of Champagne blending reveals itself—an art in which the House of Veuve Clicquot excels. The first sip delivers all the freshness and forcefulness so typical of Yellow Label, followed by a symphony of fruit tastes. Here is a true icon of the Brut family: powerful, well-structured and thoroughly enjoyable.

Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec is perhaps the most "classical" champagne from this House. No fewer than 50 wines comprise this cuvee! On the nose, it is rich in the scents of ripe fruit, with hints of toasts and brioche.
In the mouth, it displays both roundness and mellowness, combined with a delightful freshness and the very noticeable aromas of ripe fruit. Enfin, a superbly structured Champagne!

December 12th

Nicolas Feuillatte Brut
The definitive Champagne from this House, this Brut unites fruit, power, balance and all the unique characteristics that the geography, climate and soil of the region impart. This cuvee brings together 3 different vintages and is aged for 3 years—well in excess of the mere 18 months required by law. It has a pale, straw-gold color with aromas of toasted hazel nut, green apple and fig, with a deliciously fruity yet dry taste.

Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose
This blended rose is the perfect companion for both fun times and memorable occasions. Crafted from red and white Champagne grapes, with a focus on red grapes, it displays a lovely salmon pink, almost copper, coloration. The blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier grapes with just 10% Chardonnay yields a festival of red fruit flavors. In the mouth, raspberry, strawberry and red currants all linger in this well-balanced wine.

Moët & Chandon ROSÉ IMPÉRIAL
Rosé Impérial is a spontaneous and radiant champagne that tempts into seduction. As the name suggests, it is pink in color with amber highlights. A glamorous expression of the vaunted Moët & Chandon style, Rosé Impérial offers a lively and intense bouquet of red fruits with floral nuances of rose and a slightly peppery touch. This delightful combination of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay is sure to please.

Moët & Chandon IMPÉRIAL
Moët Impérial is the House’s iconic champagne. Created in 1869, it distinguishes itself by a bright fruitiness, seductive palate and elegant maturity. Created from more than 100 different wines, of which 20% to 30% are reserve wines specially selected to enhance its maturity, complexity and constancy, its assemblage reflects the diversity and complementary characters of the varietals from which it is made.

December 26th

Mumm Cordon Rouge
Cordon Rouge is the House style for Mumm, and derives its name from the red sash of Napoleon’ Legion of Honor ("Cordon" – sash, "rouge" – red). As many as 70 wines go into this cuvee, with its bold fruitiness coming from the dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend. This is a fresh, golden hued Champagne with fine bubbles and aromas of firm, fleshy fruits. As founder Georges Hermann Mumm used to say: "Only the best!"

Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut
First made in the early nineteenth century by Nicolas Perrier and his wife Adéle Jouët, this lively champagne quickly became the toast of the town. In fact, it was so favored by Queen Victoria that Perrier- Jouët was soon the official supplier of the British monarchy, as well as the Swedish royal family and the King of Belgium. Subtle, complex flavors and a light, sweet, and fruity quality characterize this renowned Champagne.
