SUMMARY:2023 UPAF Ride for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:The United Performing Arts Fund’s annual Ride for the Arts\, presented by Miller Lite\, returns June 4\, with an expanded Hoan Loop Course and finish line party at Henry Maier Festival Park. \nUtilizing Lincoln Memorial Drive up north to Lake Park\, then back south over the Hoan Bridge\, along 794 to Pennsylvania Ave and back again\, this one-of-a-kind course offers scenic views of Milwaukee for riders of all ages and abilities. Completely closed to car traffic\, bikes rule the road! \nFrom 7 a.m. to 11 a.m\, ride as little or as much of the 20-mile loop course as desired. We welcome all riders and have a variety of options with different routes and distances ranging from 7 to 15 miles. Plus we have a 1.5 mile Arts Path at Lakeshore State Park\, this short-distance ride offers greater access to riders of all ages and abilities\, especially designed with families in mind. \nFollowing the ride\, UPAF will host a finish line party at Henry Maier Festival Park from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will feature food and drink (including free Miller Lite for all riders 21+) and live entertainment from UPAF Member groups and activities for all ages. All proceeds from the UPAF Ride for the Arts\, including donations through fundraising efforts and sponsorship donations\, UPAF programs and all 47 performing arts organizations it funds.

DESCRIPTION:With right wing attacks on LGBTQ rights\, abortion rights\, voting rights and more\, we need progressive laughs now more than ever. That’s why we’re excited to present Laughing Liberally Milwaukee\, a monthly progressive political comedy show featuring Milwaukee’s top liberal and progressive comedians. \nLaughing Liberally Milwaukee is hosted by comedian\, cartoonist and satirist Matthew Filipowicz. Matthew’s work has been featured by CNN\, NPR\, PBS\, HBO\, BBC\, the New York Times\, the Wall Street Journal\, the Atlantic\, the Nation\, the London Times\, Ain’t It Cool News\, and the Huffington Post. Matthew also hosts the creatively titled Laughing Liberally Milwaukee Podcast. \nComedians on the June 17th bill include Kristin Lytie\, Raegan Niemela\, Natalie Wickman\, Emilio De Torre and sketch comedy troupe The Accountants Of Homeland Security. \nIn addition to some of the finest progressive comedians Milwaukee has to offer\, each Laughing Liberally Milwaukee features a special interview with a local activist\, journalist\, or political figure. This month’s guest is Heather DuBois Bourenane from the Wisconsin Public Education Network.
