SUMMARY:Clem Snide
DESCRIPTION:$12 adv/ $15 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show\, then available at the door). Doors at 7pm\, showtime 8pm \nWe want to ensure we are doing everything we can to help keep our community safe\, so we are now requiring the following for entry to Live Shows: \nProof of Vaccination -OR- Proof of a Negative COVID 19 Test taken within 72 hours of the show. \nMasks are encouraged but not required. \n// \n“The last ten years have been a rollercoaster of deep despair and amazing opportunities that somehow present themselves at the last possible second\,” says Eef Barzelay. “During that time\, the band bottomed out\, I lost my house\, and I had to declare bankruptcy. The only way to survive was to try to transcend myself\, to find some kind of deeper\, spiritual relationship with life. Once I committed to that\, all these little miracles started happening.” \n‘Forever Just Beyond\,’ Barzelay’s stunning album under the Clem Snide moniker\, may just be the most miraculous of them all. Produced by Scott Avett\, the record is a work of exquisite beauty and profound questioning\, a reckoning with faith and reality that rushes headlong into the unknown and the unknowable. The songs here grapple with hope and depression\, identity and perception\, God and the afterlife\, humanizing thorny existential issues and delivering them with the intimate\, understated air of a late-night conversation between old friends. Avett’s production is similarly warm and inviting\, and the careful\, spacious arrangement of gentle guitars and spare percussion carves a wide path for Barzelay’s insightful lyrics and idiosyncratic delivery. \n“I look up to Eef with total respect and admiration\,” says Avett\, “and I hope to survive like he survives: with total love for the new and the unknown. Eef’s a crooner and an indie darling by sound and a mystic sage by depth. That’s not common\, but it’s beautiful.” \nNamed for a William S. Borroughs character\, Clem Snide first emerged from Boston as a three-piece in the early 1990’s\, and the group would go on to become a cult and critical favorite\, picking up high profile fans from Bon Iver to Ben Folds over the course of three decades and more than a dozen studio albums. NPR highlighted the Israeli-born Barzelay as “the most underrated songwriter in the business today\, with a sneakily firm grasp on poignancy and humor\,” while Rolling Stone hailed his songwriting as “soulful and incisive\,” and The New Yorker praised his music’s “soothing melodies and candid wit.” \nBarzelay currently resides in Nashville\, TN. \n$12 adv/ $15 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show\, then available at the door). Doors at 7pm\, showtime 8pm

SUMMARY:Milwaukee's Best Bloody

Chicago St.\, Milwaukee\, WI\, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Milwaukee area bars and restaurants enjoy the opportunity to give back in a fun\, unique way while showcasing their signature mix and garnish. Tickets are on sale now! Learn more about different ticket packages\, as well as some of this year’s participants. \nHemophilia and von Willebrand disease are rare bleeding disorders and impact more than 3\,600 Wisconsin families. Almost 90% of this population resides in the greater Milwaukee/Waukesha area. Families face many challenges — social\, financial\, and medical. GLHF’s mission is to educate\, support and advocate for the bleeding disorders community; and our vision is to help people and families living with a bleeding disorder live life with fewer limitations. \nDRINK LOCAL. \nMilwaukee bartenders showcase their signature Bloody Mary recipes while guests enjoy beer chasers\, appetizers and vote for their favorite bloody. Last year due to COVID – 19\, GLHF hosted a “to go” version of Milwaukee’s Best Bloody. Participants came to the Italian Community Center to pick up their box of Bloodys and then voted for their favorite Bloody online. Learn more including some of this year’s participants! \nGIVE LOCAL. \nProceeds from Milwaukee’s Best Bloody helps support programs like Camp Klotty Pine for children living with a bleeding disorder; Family Camp; the Wisconsin Bleeding Disorders Conference; Wisconsin Legislative Day; educational scholarships and emergency patient financial assistance. In addition to funds raised to support our local programs and services\, GLHF is part of a national awareness campaign to help the estimated 1-2% of the population who have a bleeding disorder get a diagnosis. \nMilwaukee’s Best Bloody\, a fundraiser for the Wisconsin bleeding disorders community\, has experienced incredible growth over the last several years\, and we’re hoping to continue that growth now that we’re back in person this year. Ticket information is available on our website. Visit glhf.org for information. \nAll tickets\, including VIP and 6-Packs\, include samples of every participating bar and restaurant\, as well as appetizers. Designated Driver tickets are also available and include non-alcoholic Bloody Mary samples. This is a 21+ event. \nFor information go to: https://glhf.org/event/milwaukees-best-bloody-2/.
