SUMMARY:Buddy Guy 90
DESCRIPTION:At nearly 90 years old\, Buddy Guy stands as one of the most influential guitarists in American music. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a pioneer of Chicago’s explosive West Side sound\, Buddy Guy remains a guiding force for generations of rock and blues legends. The nine-time GRAMMY winner has also earned a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY\, 38 Blues Music Awards\, the Billboard Century Award\, the Presidential National Medal of Arts\, and the Kennedy Center Honor. Rolling Stone ranks him #23 on its list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time\,” underscoring his unmatched impact on modern music. \nBorn in 1936 in Lettsworth\, Louisiana\, Guy built his first two-string guitar at age seven. His life changed in 1957 when he moved to Chicago\, soon recording for Chess Records and collaborating with its legendary roster. His raw emotion\, showmanship\, and blistering guitar style reshaped the instrument’s possibilities and set a new standard for electric blues. \nGuy’s visibility surged in the 2010s\, highlighted by his 2012 Kennedy Center Honor and the release of his memoir When I Left Home. A run of acclaimed albums followed\, including Born to Play Guitar; The Blues Is Alive and Well\, which earned his eighth GRAMMY in 2019; and The Blues Don’t Lie\, his 2022 Billboard #1 Blues album. In 2021\, PBS American Masters released Buddy Guy: The Blues Chase the Blues Away\, cementing his status as both a historic figure and a cultural force. \nIn 2025\, he released Ain’t Done With the Blues\, produced by longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge and featuring The Blind Boys of Alabama\, Peter Frampton\, Joe Walsh\, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram\, and Joe Bonamassa. Its lead single\, “How Blues Is That?” reaffirmed the grit\, humor\, and wisdom that define his late-career renaissance. As Buddy shared\, “This album is about where I’ve been\, it’s about where I’m going… Before they passed\, Muddy\, Wolf\, Walter\, Sonny Boy\, B.B.—they used to say\, ‘If you outlive me\, just keep the blues alive.’ And I’m trying to keep that promise.” Released on his 89th birthday\, the album drew widespread acclaim\, praising him as “masterful\,” “vital\,” and “one of the last of the great bluesmen still standing.” Around the same time\, his appearance in Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster SINNERS introduced him to yet another new audience. \nIn recent years Buddy announced his Damn Right Farewell Tour\, although a step back from extensive touring\, he has never stepped away from performing or recording. Now\, as he celebrates his 90th year\, Buddy Guy remains one of the last surviving architects of electric blues; A bridge from the fields of Louisiana to the clubs of Chicago to the world’s biggest stages. Whether creating new music\, inspiring rising artists\, or electrifying audiences with the fire that has defined him for seven decades\, Buddy Guy continues to show that the blues not only lives\, it thrives.

SUMMARY:Sound Bath & Labyrinth Walk
DESCRIPTION:This summer is our eighth season of Sound Bath & Labyrinth Walks at Lynden Sculpture Garden. An outgrowth of artist-in-residence Jenna Knapp’s project Labyrinth Society of Lynden Sculpture Garden\, the sound baths developed in collaboration with Sevan Arabajian. Now that Jenna has moved on to other projects\, Sevan will host the 2026 sound baths on her own (with you). \nSound baths are an ancient form of healing and deep meditation; they include various ambient sounds and frequencies played in a space where you can hear and experience their vibrations moving through you. Everyone’s experience will be different; unique as you are\, and according to what is needed most at the time. The outdoor sound bath lasts approximately 45-60 minutes\, including guiding you to relax into the experience before hand and out of it afterward. Sevan will offer some words about the current astrological influences and prompts for walking the labyrinth after the sound bath. You are invited to bring your own candle for the labyrinth walk (something in a glass votive to block the wind). \nFee \n$30/$25 members

SUMMARY:Of Monsters and Men: The Mouse Parade Tour
DESCRIPTION:From Reykjavík to the global stage\, Of Monsters and Men (OMAM) first captured the world’s attention with their 2011 debut My Head Is an Animal\, transforming from Icelandic indie favorites into a band known and loved worldwide. \nBreakout single “Little Talks” became a generational anthem with over a billion Spotify streams and led to a 2013 Saturday Night Live debut. Their follow-up\, Beneath the Skin (2015)\, debuted Top 3 on the Billboard 200 and included a surprise cameo on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Over the past 15 years\, OMAM have continuously explored\, evolved\, and built a world of music defined by growth and imagination—from the cinematic expansiveness of Beneath the Skin to the dreamlike textures of Fever Dream (2019). \nAlong the way\, OMAM’s cinematic sound has been featured in The Hunger Games\, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty\, and more\, while commanding festival sets at Coachella\, Glastonbury\, and Lollapalooza cemented their reputation as one of the most compelling live acts of their era. Their intimate pandemic-era documentary tíu (2022)\, which premiered at Tribeca and won Best Short at Dumbo\, paired with an EP of unreleased tracks spanning a decade\, further showcased the depth and evolution of their craft. \nAfter pursuing solo and side projects\, the band now reunites with All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade\, a tapestry of stories\, moments\, and conversations\, the album explores how love and pain intertwine. Feelings that might seem at odds with each other\, but co-exist simultaneously and need one another. The album marks a new chapter in a career defined by growth\, exploration\, and a commitment to making music that reflects who they are today.
