SUMMARY:Julia Cannon\, Eva Cassel\, Faith Hatch
DESCRIPTION:Julia Cannon is an Alaska raised and now Nashville-based songwriter\, recording artist and music producer who is hard to forget. Known for producing and mixing her own music\, her outstanding musicality\, disarming persona\, beauty\, style\, and offbeat humor\, Julia Cannon is a bright star to watch. \nIn July of 2022\, she made her Newport Folk Festival debut\, performing with the Black Opry as well as Langhorn Slim\, Sierra Ferrell\, Joy Oladokun\, Adia Victoria\, and several more earning her a nod from Rolling Stone. You can also find Julia’s name on a plaque as a part of the Black Opry’s exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Fame\, or opening for musicians such as Iniko\, when they come through town. \nFaith Hatch is a multigenre vocalist and pianist based in Milwaukee. Her act features originals and reimagined songs based in jazz\, R&B\, and soul. Her lilting melodies and brutally honest lyrics allows both the front row ‘woo girl’ and the quiet back row attendee to feel seen. John Mayer described Eva’s writing as thorough\, sincere\, and thoughtful. Cassel has toured internationally and shared the stage with Artists such as Neil Young\, John Mayer\, Stephen Stills\, Katie Pruitt\, Wild Rivers\, Lily Meola\, Dessa\, Daisha McBride and many more. \nWith the release of three EP’s\, her songs have been placed on leading editorial playlists including Apple Music’s New Alternative.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Mind Games
DESCRIPTION:Kim Storage Gallery is thrilled to present “Mind Games\,” a solo exhibition by Chicago-based artist April Behnke. This captivating show features a new body of work showcasing Behnke’s exploration of perceptual play through paintings and drawings. The exhibition delves into the ways we use vision to perceive patterns and make sense of the world. Behnke skillfully interrupts these patterns\, mixing up foreground and background to create a visual experience that is both familiar and disorienting. Visitors will be intrigued by the dynamic interplay of colors and shapes\, which challenge and engage the viewer’s perception. \n“Mind Games” not only references the show’s main theme but also invites viewers to participate in a playful and interactive experience. Behnke’s work draws inspiration from both board games and early video games\, incorporating structured patterns and visual interruptions that evoke a sense of nostalgia and curiosity. This exhibition marks Behnke’s first solo show at Kim Storage Gallery\, and it promises to be a thought-provoking and visually stimulating event. Join us for the opening reception and artist talk\, where Behnke will provide deeper insights into her creative process and the conceptual underpinnings of her work. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, July 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. (Gallery Night MKE)\nArtist Talk: Saturday\, July 19 beginning at 1 p.m.
