SUMMARY:Falls Festival of the Arts
DESCRIPTION:A New Location and New Date. The Festival will return to its original flagship location\, Downtown Menomonee Falls (Main Street from Grand to Water St.) and Mill Pond Park on August 24\, 2024\, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This year the Festival will showcase a diverse range of local\, regional\, and state-wide artists\, along with art demonstrations\, a kids art zone\, live music\, food trucks\, a beer & wine garden\, performing artists\, street performers\, vendors and a community art project. \nThe Festival\, which originated as an art walk\, has grown each year thanks to the support of local businesses\, organizations\, and dedicated volunteers like Stacie Estrada\, owner of Art Lounge and current Co-Director of the Festival. Estrada began the art walk in 2021 when her family moved their business to Menomonee Falls from Sussex. At that time her “ intention was to transform Menomonee Falls Downtown into a place where artists and musicians can display and sell their talent while making the arts accessible to everyone”. \nToday\, this free family-friendly event provides multiple opportunities for Menomonee Falls and the surrounding communities to engage in and be inspired by the arts by making the arts accessible to all through visual and performance art experiences. \nIn addition\, The Art Guild of Menomonee Falls has teamed up with the Festival organizers to include their annual Art in the Park and Scholarship Auction. “A one day art party celebrating everything ART by embracing all art related businesses\, organizations and clubs in our area is a dream that I have had since I started Art in the Park back in 2008” stated Terra Chmielewski\, Founding President of the Art Guild of Menomonee Falls and current Co-Director of The Falls Festival of the Arts. The current President of the Art Guild\, Don Eisenhauer\, stated\, “ I am thrilled to see our involvement with the Festival. With these two passionate leaders\, Stacie and Terra at the helm of this ship\, the Guild and the Arts in Menomonee Falls can only grow” \nThe Art Guild of Menomonee Falls\, Falls Art@Large\, The Village of Menomonee Falls\, Menomonee Falls Downtown Inc. and Menomonee Falls Business Improvement District have all been instrumental in collaborating together for the success of the Falls Festival of the Arts. \nPlanned events leading up to the Festival include a Plein Air Painting Competition\, Sculpture Painting Competition and a Murals & Mixers Trolley Tour. \nDon’t miss the opportunity to be part of this artistic celebration and experience the creativity of the local arts community in Menomonee Falls and the surrounding area. \nFor more information\, visit their website www.fallsfestivalofthearts.com or contact their Co-Director Terra Chmielewski at terraffoa@gmail.com

SUMMARY:'Up North' Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Up North invites viewers into the nostalgic and evocative world of Tim Anderson’s childhood memories\, shaped by the rugged landscapes and serene\, natural beauty of Couderay\, Wisconsin. Anderson’s work in this collection delves deeply into the emotional and physical landscapes of his early years that have indelibly marked his artistic journey. \nThrough his masterful use of oil on canvas and panel\, Anderson captures the essence of the Northwoods. At times his palette evokes the cool blues of early morning lakes and the rich greens of dense forests\, but more often than not\, there are bursts of his favorite color\, a harsh Dutch yellow. Each piece serves as a visual diary\, offering a glimpse into the intimate and personal moments that have defined his connection to the natural world. \nUp North is not just a return to the past for Anderson; it’s an invitation for viewers to explore their own connections to place and memory\, through the lens of his evocative and deeply personal art. This show promises to be a compelling exploration of the places that have shaped Anderson’s work\, providing a window into the artist’s soul as he reflects on the environment\, people\, and stories that continue to inspire him. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, September 6th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year’s festival\, presented by the Ethnic and Diverse\nBusiness Coalition (EDBC) and AARP Wisconsin\, will take place on Saturday\, September 7th\, from 12\nPM to 5 PM along National Avenue between 32nd and 35th Streets. \nThe Silver City Fest\, a beloved tradition\, offers a unique opportunity for families\, friends\, and neighbors to\ncelebrate the many cultures that make our community so special. This year’s festival\, with its unique\nblend of local talent\, cuisine\, and creativity\, promises to be the most dynamic yet. \nThe festival will feature a vibrant marketplace offering a diverse selection of products from local artisans\nand businesses\, as well as resources from community organizations. Attendees can look forward to\ninteractive art demonstrations\, live music performances\, and a specially designed children’s area. But\nwhat truly excites us is the variety of food vendors serving delicious international cuisines. From street\nfood to local favorites like Orenda Cafe and Vientiane Noodle Shop\, there’s something to satisfy every\npalate. \nHighlights include musical and dance performances from Sindoolaa\, Pulpa de Guayaba\, The Hungry\nWilliams\, Ometochli Mexican Folk Dance\, Salsabrositas\, Aparna Bag\, and Milwaukee Flyers.\nAll are welcome to participate in the festivities of this free and family-friendly festival.
