Comparable to coral reefs or tropical rainforests\, these lakes are often filled with a diversity of creatures found nowhere else in the world. \nTaking a refreshingly personal and accessible approach\, Jeffrey McKinnon of East Carolina University will introduce the remarkable living diversity of these aquatic bodies and explain the surprising\, often controversial\, findings that the study of their faunas is yielding about the formation and persistence of species.
