DESCRIPTION:Looking for something fun to do Christmas Day? Come to Jewish Museum Milwaukee to enjoy Houdini\, the 1953 biopic starring then husband-and-wife Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh as Harry and Bess Houdini. \nThe film’s storyline is a fictionalized account of Houdini’s life. It details his beginnings as a locksmith\, up through his international success as a world-renowned escape artist and stage magician. Following the death of his mother\, he exposes various fraudulent Mediums in the spiritualist movement\, while always hoping to make contact with her. The film also follows his love for his wife Bess Houdini and his most dangerous stunts and stage illusions. \nFilm Synopsis\nWhile working as a Coney Island entertainer\, Harry Houdini (Tony Curtis) meets and falls madly in love with Bess (Janet Leigh). The two quickly marry\, and with her at his side\, the magician begins his rise to fame as the world’s greatest escape artist and magician. But as the escapes get more and more dangerous\, Bess worries that Harry may be taking his act too far. His time spent in his second home of New Orleans\, as a musicologist in Florida\, and as a journeyman wanderer in Cuba\, is reflected in his musical worldview. \nAt the core is gifted songwriting\, and the company Paul keeps bears it out: Bonnie Raitt\, Nick Lowe\, Chris Smither\, John Hiatt and Cesar Rosas are among his friends and admirers. \nTomorrow Sound are an elite crew. Drummer Reggie Bordeaux\, New Orleans native percussionist Mac Perkins\, and bassist Mike Fredrickson\, throw down some of the best dance grooves in the business. Multi-instrumentalist Bob Jennings adds the luxury of implying a much larger ensemble with his multi-hued contributions on keys and reeds. \nPaul Cebar Tomorrow Sound’s latest album\, “Fine Rude Thing” is out now. The songs “Baby Shake” and “You Owe it to Me” feature Cebar’s unique mixture of R&B\, Caribbean and New Orleans style.
