SUMMARY:Disaster Passport Performs 'Koyaanisqatsi' with Special Guest Michael Rossetto
DESCRIPTION:Join Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for an evening of live music featuring Disaster Passport and Michael Rossetto! \nDisaster Passport is a four-piece\, instrumental world music ensemble based in Madison. The band’s unique sound is built on the interplay of two banjos. One played in a traditional Appalachian style and the other in an African pop technique. Baritone electric guitar lends a Calexico-like\, Southwest texture to the music. Percussion and vocal loops add a large hit of psychedelia to the mix. \nIn 2018\, working alone and together\, the members of Madison-based Disaster Passport spent 9 months composing their own soundtrack to the 1983 art movie Koyaanisqatsi. The name of the film is taken from a Hopi Indian word meaning “life out of balance.” The film has no dialogue or narration. Director Godfrey Reggio set out to show via sweeping shots of nature and urban decay the threat humans pose to the environment and to each other. Philip Glass wrote the film’s original score. The band plays their soundtrack live to a screening of the film. In 2018 he released his first book\, Forever Nerdy. In 2019\, he completed a comedy metal album Grandpa Metal\, featuring metal legends from Anthrax\, Dethklok\, Slayer\, and Soundgarden. \nGrandpa Metal was released to rave reviews in the metal world in February 2020. In May\, he was featured on Celebrity Worst Cooks on Food Network. He hosted a weekly two-hour show spinning his favorite meta songs on GimmeMetal.com. In 2021\, he plans to compete on American Ninja Warrior\, Top Chef and So You Think You Can Dance. After he breaks TMZ and the Internet\, when footage of him beating up a narwhal surface\, he plans to quit showbiz.
