His time spent in his second home of New Orleans\, as a musicologist in Florida\, and as a journeyman wanderer in Cuba\, is reflected in his musical worldview. \nAt the core is gifted songwriting\, and the company Paul keeps bears it out: Bonnie Raitt\, Nick Lowe\, Chris Smither\, John Hiatt and Cesar Rosas are among his friends and admirers. \nTomorrow Sound are an elite crew. Drummer Reggie Bordeaux\, New Orleans native percussionist Mac Perkins\, and bassist Mike Fredrickson\, throw down some of the best dance grooves in the business. Multi-instrumentalist Bob Jennings adds the luxury of implying a much larger ensemble with his multi-hued contributions on keys and reeds. \nPaul Cebar Tomorrow Sound’s latest album\, “Fine Rude Thing” is out now. DESCRIPTION:In the 1910s\, movie theaters were quickly becoming strong competition for the vaudeville stage. Always trying to stay ahead of the times\, Harry Houdini got into the movie business and even started his own studio\, the “Houdini Picture Corporation.” \nIn 1918\, he starred in a 15-part silent serial called “The Master Mystery.” This series tells the story of a Justice Department agent\, Quentin Locke\, who investigates a powerful cartel that is protected by a robot and using a gas weapon known as “The Madagascar Madness.” Highlights of the series include many of Houdini’s daring escapes that were captured with no additional camera tricks. \nWe will be screening the entire series throughout the run of Inescapable: The Life and Legacy of Harry Houdini; this “Thirdsday‘ we will screen the conclusion of the film. DESCRIPTION:We all have workplace stories! Join Ex Fabula and Black professionals for some unique storytelling experiences at the new Saint Kate Arts Hotel! This series will create brave spaces to share truths about the world of work. These workshops are Black led; experienced storytelling coach Rochelle Fritsch and her team will guide participants through interactive\, small group activities. Each session is free and open to the public\, and will have a different theme – so attend just one or all four. No need to prepare anything in advance. Sign up to come alone or bring a friend\, and make sure to come early or stay a bit afterwards to check out Milwaukee’s new arts hotel! \n-What to expect- \nRefine existing stories or create structured stories around being a Black professional in the workplace.\nIdentify opportunities to tell these stories to a racially diverse audience.\nTell stories one-on-one and in groups.\nFeel more confident in storytelling.\nNetwork with a great group of Black professionals.\nWorkshop Dates & Themes: \nNovember 13th – Foot In The Door: interviewing while Black – screenings\, ‘ethnic’ names\, and the hiring process. \nNovember 20th – When POC are Workplace Educators: hair\, soul food\, the ‘Hood’ & everything in between. \nDecember 4th – The Nod: supporting each other in the workplace. \nDecember 18th – Beyond The Watercooler and Into The Boardroom: engaging with the right people to be in the right places in white spaces.\nAll workshop times: \n5:30 p.m. check-in\, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. workshop \nEx Fabula’s Brave Space project is possible thanks to a $15\,000 grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Gerda A.
