SUMMARY:Laughing Liberally Milwaukee
DESCRIPTION:With a second Trump presidency upon us\, and rising right wing attacks on LGBTQ rights\, abortion rights\, voting rights and more\, we need progressive laughs now more than ever. That’s why we’re excited to present Laughing Liberally Milwaukee\, a monthly progressive political comedy show featuring Milwaukee’s top liberal and progressive comedians. \nLaughing Liberally Milwaukee is hosted by comedian\, cartoonist and satirist Matthew Filipowicz. Matthew’s work has been featured by CNN\, NPR\, PBS\, HBO\, BBC\, the New York Times\, the Wall Street Journal\, the Atlantic\, the Nation\, the London Times\, Ain’t It Cool News\, and the Huffington Post. Matthew also hosts the creatively titled Laughing Liberally Milwaukee Podcast. \nComedians on the March 8th bill include Jason Hillman\, Josh Fred\, Taylor Hooker\, Syed\, and sketch comedy troupe The Accountants Of Homeland Security. \nIn addition to some of the finest progressive comedians Milwaukee has to offer\, each Laughing Liberally Milwaukee features a special interview with a local activist\, journalist\, or political figure. SUMMARY:Milwaukee County Investing In Justice Community Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:Built nearly 100 years ago\, Milwaukee County’s Public Safety Building – where many courtrooms are located – is crumbling\, inefficient\, and poses risks to community safety and justice. It must be replaced\, and the County must re-envision and invest in a design and approach that improves outcomes for all who touch the justice system. \nAs the County continues to approach planning intentionally\, the County is holding three listening sessions in March to share updates and seek the community’s valuable input on what necessary improvements to Milwaukee County’s courthouse facilities could look like. Community input will help shape our next steps\, including the design process for a new building. \nYou can RSVP for any of the sessions here. \nAdditional information about Milwaukee County’s Investing in Justice: Courthouse Complex effort is available online.
