DESCRIPTION:The HAWS Pet Pantry is hitting the road! \nJoin us on Thursday\, February 1 at the Mecca Beer Garden in the Deer District for the HAWS Pet Pantry Pop Up. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.\, we’ll be distributing food and treats for dogs and cats to the first 1000 guests in attendance. Limit of two animals of supplies per person (can be combination of dog/cat). \nVouchers will be given after waiting in line at the event. Assistance transferring supplies to vehicles in the loading zone near the event will be available\, but attendees must wait in line for vouchers first. Loading zone is located near Mecca Beer Garden\, cars can be moved to this area for pick-up only. Cars will not be served in the loading zone without vouchers. \nStay tuned to the Facebook event page for updates on the available supplies as the event date approaches. From the sensation of being hugged by an octopus to quantum mechanics\, Science on Tap looks to answer questions you never knew you had! \nMost lakes are less than 15\,000 years old and short-lived\, but a much smaller number of ancient lakes\, often millions of years old\, are scattered across every continent but Antarctica. Comparable to coral reefs or tropical rainforests\, these lakes are often filled with a diversity of creatures found nowhere else in the world. \nTaking a refreshingly personal and accessible approach\, Jeffrey McKinnon of East Carolina University will introduce the remarkable living diversity of these aquatic bodies and explain the surprising\, often controversial\, findings that the study of their faunas is yielding about the formation and persistence of species. Chicago St.\, Milwaukee. Milwaukee area bars and restaurants enjoy the opportunity to give back in a fun\, unique way while showcasing their signature mix and garnish. Stay tuned for details regarding location and ticket sales. \nHemophilia and von Willebrand disease are rare bleeding disorders and impact more than 3\,600 Wisconsin families. Almost 90% of this population resides in the greater Milwaukee area. Families face many challenges — social\, financial\, and medical. GLHF’s mission is to educate\, support and advocate for the bleeding disorders community; and our vision is to help people and families living with a bleeding disorder live life with fewer limitations. \nPlease continue to watch our events page for information about Greem Bay’s Best Bloody (May 5) and Madison’s Best Bloody (April 7). \nMilwaukee bartenders showcase their signature Bloody Mary recipes while guests enjoy beer chasers\, appetizers and vote for their favorite bloody. In addition to funds raised to support our local programs and services\, GLHF is part of a national awareness campaign to help the estimated 1-2% of the population who have a bleeding disorder get a diagnosis. \nMilwaukee’s Best Bloody\, a fundraiser for the Wisconsin bleeding disorders community\, has experienced incredible growth over the last several years\, and we’re hoping to continue that growth now that we’re back in person this year. Come just to listen – or throw your name in the hat for a chance to share a true story related to the theme ‘Lost’ At the end of the night\, the audience votes by secret ballot to crown an *Audience Favorite. \nThe audience can also be a part of the storytelling by submitting UltraShorts! These are “ultra-short” stories on the night’s theme that will be read onstage by the emcee. \nWant to practice your story before the slam? Join us for the StoryStarter workshop from 5:15-6:15pm right before the event! The public is invited for free to discover and explore attractions such as the movie theatre\, arcade\, and bowling alley of ACX Entertainment\, two unique restaurants\, and bars. There will be samplings of products and giveaways throughout the event. In addition\, the North Shore Chamber of Commerce will be assisting with a ribbon cutting at 5:00 p.m. All businesses are located at 5800 N. Bayshore Drive on the second level of the Rotunda at Bayshore.

Give a unique wine tasting experience: Sampling wines from around the globe while meeting our birds of prey\, including owls\, falcons\, hawks\, and even a Bald Eagle! \nJoin us for a wonderful evening as we transform our beautiful nature center into a space to explore your favorite varietals encompassing an incredible selection of wines. When you arrive on this cozy February evening\, you will enter the Great Hall by our beautiful fireplace and receive your keepsake wine glass\, the second in a series of four collector wine glasses featuring a new bird of prey each year! Then\, you will take off on a journey to taste a wide variety of international wines selected by experts from AVA Wine\, and nibble on an array of imported cheeses and Italian treats. \nAs you taste wines and learn about our birds of prey\, you will have the opportunity to try and then buy! All sampled wine will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds supporting our Raptor Program\, which educates the public about these birds of prey and their important role in our environment. \nTickets are $65 per person. Non-alcohol tickets are $35. This event is for ages 21 and above.
