SUMMARY:Intro to Native Gardening Class
DESCRIPTION:Discover how the Valley’s landscaping does its part to protect the Menomonee River and how to use some of the same landscaping techniques at home. Jay Feiker of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District will lead a tour of Menomonee Valley Community Park. Beginning near the intersection of W. Milwaukee Road and Canal Street\, participants will hear about the native gardening and storm water management efforts in place in the park and how that helps keep the Menomonee River healthy. \nAfter the tour\, you can learn about how to implement similar practices in your own backyard! Do your part to help keep our rivers clean and healthy by planting native flora—you’ll even get a native plant to bring home after the event! \nWhen: Sunday\, September 13\, 2 p.m. \nWhere: Menomonee Valley Community Park | 3700 W. Milwaukee Rd & Virtual \nCost: $10/person \nIn-person attendance will be limited to the first 15-20 people to register. Those who register after that point can join the event virtually over video! \nMasks are required by all participants at this event and social distancing will be enforced. You can read the complete list of Menomonee Valley Partners’ COVID-19 Event Policies here. \nPart of Valley Week 2020.
