SUMMARY:Sylph
DESCRIPTION:Dawn Springer Dance Projects presents Sylph\, a contemporary dance performance that examines the humanity behind the rigor of ballet artistry. Set in the round\, Sylph is a collaboration between choreographer Dawn Springer and acclaimed composer-percussionist Jon Mueller\, with five internationally celebrated ballet dancers. Three exclusive performances invite the audience into an intimate experience with the exceptional artistry of Milwaukee’s most accomplished ballerinas and the expansive views from the Jan Serr Studio. \nThe term sylph refers to a fairly-like creature in folklore and is often used to describe a slender young woman. This production\, featuring costume design by Leslie Vaglica and lighting by Ellie Rabinowitz\, expands beyond flattened representations of the stereotypical roles women are often expected to inhabit\, both on and off stage. \n
