SUMMARY:The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
DESCRIPTION:By Bertolt Brecht\, translated and adapted by Bruce Norris\nDirected by Ralph Janes \nExperience what happens when a small-time mobster with ruthless ambition takes control of the gangster underworld in 1930s Chicago. Witness how Arturo Ui’s arrogance and self-importance have a savage effect—matching the rise of Nazism in Germany during the 1920s. This potent and timely satire\, is\, according to Brecht\, not a play about Hitler\, but rather a cautionary tale of “the complacency of the people who were able to resist him\, but didn’t.” \nGeneral $23/ Senior\, UWM Faculty & Staff $18/ Under 18 & University Students $13\n*Sale Tax is added upon purchase* \nNote: ASL interpretation will be offered at Saturday and Sunday performances. \nWarning: This performance includes adult language\, gunfire (recorded\, not live)\, weapons and flashes of light. \nPlease also note that socially distanced seating and masks are required. \nCurtains rise at 2 p.m. matinée on Sunday. \n

SUMMARY:ART POP 2020!
DESCRIPTION:ART POP 2020! Yes! TAYLOR’S will be hosting the AIDS WALK WISCONSIN’S most intriguing art auction fundraiser again this year to support the “We-R-the-Strongest-Link” walking team. Because of the unusual times we are in\, the format of ART POP will be both in-person and online. The event will kick off as usual from 2:30 – 5 pm on Sunday October 18th at TAYLOR’S with all of the 7″ x 7″ art pieces hanging gallery-style. Artwork will remain hanging for three days with online bidding only. Final bids will be taken at 8 pm on Wednesday October 21st. Support the team by coming to TAYLOR’S on the 18th… There will be the customary entrance fee of $20 which can be applied “same as cash” to your online purchase -and get the free drink of your choice\, too! On-site purchase of blocks can be made at a set price. TAYLOR’S has been approved by the City of Milwaukee Health Department for full occupancy\, provided all social distancing and appropriate mask wearing is observed… we will take every measure to ensure that we provide a safe atmosphere for you to view the artwork (we’re hoping the extended online bidding will allow people to come and go easily without the usual crush of people at the end of the in-person event). More details about the online bidding process and retrieval of artwork to follow… mark your calendar today! \n
