SUMMARY:Barbaro and Chicken Wire Empire at Anodyne
DESCRIPTION:Barbaro’s music is at once lively and intimate\, perfect for twirling around the dance floor or cooking with someone you love. The Minneapolis-Winona quartet have built momentum around their dynamic sound\, each set flowing naturally between energetic jams and contemplative interludes. Their upcoming album\, due out spring 2019\, showcases their captivating songwriting\, layered over textures pulled from bluegrass\, jazz\, pop\, and country-western. \nBarbaro has performed at premier Midwest music festivals including Blue Ox\, Boats & Bluegrass\, and MBOTMA. In 2018\, the band released their first EP and claimed two contest wins\, at the John Hartford Memorial Festival Band Contest and MBOTMA’s Americana Roots Band Contest. \nChicken Wire Empire– Contemporary tones blend with traditional roots in Milwaukee’s unparalleled Chicken Wire Empire. Since their formation in 2014\, the Chicken Wire Empire has wasted little time establishing themselves as one of the hottest up and coming bands in the local and regional music scene. Ryan Ogburn (mandolin)\, Jordan Kroeger (upright Bass)\, Greg Brundage (Guitar)\, and Jon Peik (banjo)\, Ernest Brusubardis IV (fiddle) Together these individuals deliver their bluegrass inspired song to audiences of any age.

SUMMARY:Making Movies
DESCRIPTION:Making Movies blends pulsing Afro-Latino rhythms\, psychedelic jams and rock ’n’ roll swagger into powerful live performances\, full of theatrics and cathartic climaxes. Armed with the ambitious and politically charged 2017 release I Am Another You — “lyrically and sonically one of the best albums of the year\,” NPR raved — and a companion EP\, You Are Another Me\, the Kansas City band punches out one high-energy song after another. The foursome showcases their Latin American roots\, with frontman Enrique Chi incorporating traditional instruments like the Panamanian mejorana alongside electric guitar\, or the Chaurand brothers swapping drums and percussion for a dueling zapateado huasteco\, a traditional form of dance from Veracruz\, Mexico. \nThe band’s political idea is straightforward enough that they can express it in four words: “We are all immigrants.” In supporting that cause\, a portion of all proceeds from I Am Another You goes to the National Immigration Law Center. The band has shared the stage with Arcade Fire\, Los Lobos\, Galactic\, Ozomatli\, Tennis\, Thievery Corporation\, Rodrigo y Gabriela\, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.
