The lines of the correspondence he studied\, are seemingly ordinary—until you realize that they were written in the darkest days of the Holocaust under tyrannical censorship. \nCommunications during the Nazi era in Europe does not provide answers to the major questions that still haunt us. DESCRIPTION:It was about 20 years ago when NPR’s Morning Edition said: “It’s not easy to categorize the music of the Squirrel Nut Zippers\, except that it’s hot.” \n2016 marked the 20th anniversary of the Squirrel Nut Zippers’ most celebrated and commercially successful album Hot. Originally released in the summer of 1996\, Hot was the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed debut The Inevitable. By this time\, the group had already established a substantial live following across the country thanks to early support from NPR\, college radio\, and non-commercial stations. Hot wound up selling more than 1.3 million copies. The Squirrel Nut Zippers recently performed its first set of tour dates since 2009 to sold-out crowds across the country. As the band’s visionary creator Jimbo Mathus has said of the re-launch\, “it’s not a reunion\, it’s a revival.” The band is currently in the studio working on a new album\, which will be its first in 17 years.

DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee’s bus system is the heart and soul of our city. If you grew up in Milwaukee\, you came to understand the city by riding the routes. It is something we all share and have in common. We are unifying our community by turning city bus shelters into art. Local artists are unleashing their own hearts and souls to create designs to cover the bus shelters and give back to the city. \nWe need to raise at least $2\,000 to get this project running. The money raised will allow us to pay for the vinyl prints that will be attached to the shelters\, as well as any promotional materials that we need.

While very much rooted in an indie-rock style\, they interject their own take true to their name\, bringing forth a cool\, water-front sound that incorporates hazy sounds and upbeat charm. – 88Nine RadioMilwaukee \n[Set Sail] is nothing short of absolutely addicting indie pop\, with a bright sound accented by hand claps and a playful trombone part. However\, the lyrics contrast that sound well\, with talk of being a monster and relying on a certain someone to fill an emptiness. There is\, however\, a certain warmth about the song that makes it feel just right for the summer\, and will definitely fit in well once the entire record is released. – Breaking & Entering \nMilwaukee act Greatest Lakes will be releasing their new album\, Divisions\, on May 4th.
