The festival is a full day of workshops\, vendors\, and demonstrations beginning at 10 a.m. The evening festival\, which is open to the general public\, begins at 7 p.m. The event will have World Class Talent from right here in the Midwest and nationally recognized players. This year’s lineup includes: Bucky Halker\, Guy Fiorentini\, The Milwaukee Ukulele Club and Friends\, Richard Ash\, Lil’ Rev\, Spencer & Raines\, Seeso\, Michael Bootzin\, Danielle Ate the Sandwich\, and Matt Lindahl. Jamming\, Workshops\, Dinner hour concert\, raffle\, evening concert and post fest party are all planned.

DESCRIPTION:The technique of painting with wax has been around since the time of the Egyptians. Artists throughout the ages have employed this method of mixing wax medium into oil paint\, applying it to a rigid surface\, and “burning” it in using heat. SUMMARY:Festival City Symphony Opens Season with “Music for the Birds” Symphony Sundays Concert
DESCRIPTION:Festival City Symphony will begin its 2016-2017 “Symphony Sundays” series with a concert titled Music for the Birds on Sun.\, Oct. 2\, at 3:00 pm at the Pabst Theater\, 144 East Wells Street. \nThe concert will include compositions inspired by our feathered friends. FCS will feature a suite from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s great ballet “Swan Lake.” Ottorino Respighi wrote his delightfully descriptive suite “The Birds” based on earlier works by Baroque composers. FCS also will play two overtures: Gioacchino Rossini’s spritely “Overture to the Thieving Magpie\,” and Johann Strauss’s “Overture to Die Fledermaus.” \nFCS welcomes children to these concerts\, which are most appropriate for those in second grade and older. Prior to each concert at 2:45 p.m.\, Education Director Jayne Perkins presents “Children’s Program Notes\,” offered to help children become familiar with the music they are about to hear. Conductor Monte Perkins will also include descriptive program information from the stage. \nAdmission to each concert is $14 for adults and $8 for children\, students\, and seniors. Early-bird season ticket packs are available through September 30\, 2016\, in several categories—a season Family Pack admits an entire family to all four concerts for just $75; Couples Packs admit two people to all four concerts for $72; a Single Adult Pack admits one adult to all four concerts for $50; and a Senior or Student Pack admits one adult over age 60 or a student to all four concerts for $28. \nInformation about purchasing season packs or group tickets may be obtained by calling Festival City Symphony at 414-365-8861 or by visiting festivalcitysymphony.org. Every October the Archaeological Institute of America and organizations around the world present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests. In the past years in Milwaukee IAD activities have drawn upwards of 60 members of the public and have provided fun and interactive ways to explore themed topics and a variety of archaeological subjects. \nThis year to celebrate International Archaeology Day the Milwaukee society of the Archaeological Institute of America is hosting “You are what you wear: clothing and adornment in the ancient world.” In ancient times\, just like in modern times\, different fashions and ways of dressing could say a lot about a person and their culture. Join the Milwaukee society at UWM’s Sabin Hall to learn about how ancient fashions changed through time\, how clothes and jewelry were made\, and to participate in making history come alive by making clothes and jewelry\, and dressing up like the ancients did! \nInternational Archaeology Day will be celebrated here in Milwaukee on Saturday\, October 15\, 2016\, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on the UWM campus. Come to the first floor of UWM’s Sabin Hall (3413 North Downer Ave) and join us for an exciting afternoon of experimental archaeology as we learn about the lives of ancient peoples by walking a mile in their shoes\, dressing in their clothes\, and adorning ourselves like they did!
