SUMMARY:Hands-on Drop-in Workshop with Nina Ghanbarzadeh
DESCRIPTION:Learn to write your name in Farsi\, Nina Ghanbarzadeh’s mother tongue\, using stencils and other art supplies. Start with a two-dimensional version\, writing right to left\, then experiment\, as Ghanbarzadeh does in her exhibition\, with three dimensions. Her work is on view at the Haggerty from June 12 through August 2 in The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists 2024. \nNina Ghanbarzadeh transplanted from Tehran\, Iran\, in 2001. She holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing and Graphic Design from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed a two-year artist residency at Redline Milwaukee in 2015. Ghanbarzadeh has been involved in many exhibitions\, workshops\, lectures\, and presentations. She received the 1st Place award at the Wisconsin Artists Biennial in 2020\, and she was chosen by Professional Dimensions as the 2025 Imprint Award Artist. \n

DESCRIPTION:Julia Cannon is an Alaska raised and now Nashville-based songwriter\, recording artist and music producer who is hard to forget. Known for producing and mixing her own music\, her outstanding musicality\, disarming persona\, beauty\, style\, and offbeat humor\, Julia Cannon is a bright star to watch. \nIn July of 2022\, she made her Newport Folk Festival debut\, performing with the Black Opry as well as Langhorn Slim\, Sierra Ferrell\, Joy Oladokun\, Adia Victoria\, and several more earning her a nod from Rolling Stone. You can also find Julia’s name on a plaque as a part of the Black Opry’s exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Fame\, or opening for musicians such as Iniko\, when they come through town. \nFaith Hatch is a multigenre vocalist and pianist based in Milwaukee. Her act features originals and reimagined songs based in jazz\, R&B\, and soul. She has a lifetime of performance experience both as a solo artist and with numerous groups from Madison\, Chicago\, and Milwaukee. Faith graduated from UW Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and was awarded Vocal Jazz Soloist of 2020 by Downbeat Magazine. \nNashville-based artist Eva Cassel is a unique combination of crystalline vocals and infectious grooves. Wielding an electric or a rubber bridge guitar\, Cassel draws the listener into a cinematic world. Her lilting melodies and brutally honest lyrics allows both the front row ‘woo girl’ and the quiet back row attendee to feel seen. John Mayer described Eva’s writing as thorough\, sincere\, and thoughtful. Cassel has toured internationally and shared the stage with Artists such as Neil Young\, John Mayer\, Stephen Stills\, Katie Pruitt\, Wild Rivers\, Lily Meola\, Dessa\, Daisha McBride and many more. \nWith the release of three EP’s\, her songs have been placed on leading editorial playlists including Apple Music’s New Alternative. \n
