SUMMARY:Marie and Rosetta
DESCRIPTION:Before Little Richard\, Johnny Cash\, and Jimi Hendrix\, Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s groundbreaking blend of gospel music\, swing rhythms and fierce electric guitar made her an unconventional music superstar in the 1930s and 40s. Acclaimed writer George Brant (“Grounded”) unearths the unsung roots of the fearless “Godmother of Rock ’n’ Roll” and her wide-eyed protégée Marie Knight\, as they begin their revolutionary ascent to become one of the most influential teams in music history. Starring Rep favorites Alexis J Roston (“Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill\,” “Nina Simone: Four Women”) and Bethany Thomas (“Ragtime\,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”) and featuring a rich mix of songs from the early days of rock ’n roll\, this magnetic play with music is a sure-fire can’t-miss show. \nBy George Brant\nDirected by E. Faye Butler \n

SUMMARY:Buffalo Galaxy + Soggy Prairie
DESCRIPTION:Join Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for an evening of live music featuring Buffalo Galaxy and Soggy Prairie! \nBuffalo Galaxy \nBuffalo Galaxy (Minneapolis\, MN) is where heavy hitting psychedelia meets old timin’ bluegrass. Their songwriting\, patience\, and personalities prove they can go deeper than your typical bluegrass band. Banjo\, Mandolin\, Upright Bass\, and Acoustic Guitar play off each other reaching both interstellar space and a universal familiarity. Their song catalog ranges from short and sweet Bill Monroe to here and now Lil Nas X. As well as catchy originals like “Time Machine” and long renditions of Grateful Dead classics. \nSoggy Prairie \nSoggy Prairie has the five-piece instrumentation of a traditional bluegrass band\, but don’t call them traditional. With a mix of bluegrass standards\, modern takes on country and Americana\, and original music\, Soggy Prairie puts on a show that demonstrates the versatility and broad appeal of string music. \nTickets are $12 in advance or $15 day of show. \n
